HP Built A Replica Of The 1939 Garage Where Founders Launched Their Business With Just $538

It’s been 80 years since HP’s founding and to celebrate, the tech giant built a multi-room exhibit filled with replicas from each decade. It’s called the HP Time Hop. CRNtv got look a look inside at HP Reinvent 2019.

Visitors entered the exhibit in a model of the one-car garage where founders Bill Hewlett and David Packard initially produced a line of electronic test equipment in 1939. Cobwebs, record players and various photographs all set the scene, along with a copy of the Fantasia playbook, which is monumental since Disney purchased multiple audio oscillators designed by Hewlett for the film. It was the founders’ first big break.

Another exhibit highlighted memories from the 1960s, a time when the founders first laid out their corporate objectives. In 1966, they set forth their first recycling initiative, a theme that continues to be a priority at HP today. In 1987, HP established its own hardware recycling program.

Other rooms in the exhibit featured the 1980s and Y2K. Check out CRNtv’s video to see it for yourself.
