HP Reinvent 2019: CRN Editors Share Final Thoughts

HP made a string of announcements last week centered around security, services and the “workplace of the future” at its annual partner conference, Reinvent 2019. CRN Senior Technical Editor Kyle Alspach weighs in with his final thoughts from the show:

What did you find to be the top announcement at the conference?

“There were just a whole lot of announcements at HP Reinvent this year. The security announcements were really big. Some really interesting stuff about blocking unknown malware, which was a really interesting approach, especially for a hardware company. There were some other security announcements around analytics and helping companies protect their endpoints effectively.”

What are your thoughts on HP’s new VR Reverb Headset?

“I didn’t’ get a close look at it but I think it’s promising since there are so many companies that spend so much money sending people around to be trained and this headset has the promise to train people wherever they are with this headset. All businesses are looking to save money and are looking for solutions from solution providers who are going to be able to do that. I think this is a good fit for the channel as far as I can see.”

What are some other key topics at the conference this year? What’s everyone talking about?

“They’re talking about the transition to services. Device-as-a-service is something a lot of partners haven’t gotten into yet, but that’s where it’s going. And, also HP is focused on millennials and Gen Z and a lot of partners are looking for insight. It’s not necessarily their day-to-day to wonder what the younger generations are focused on.”
