Telecom Minute: An Office Anywhere: Running Your Business Away From The Desk

Remote employees are the new norm.

That means solution providers are supporting customers who have more people working outside the office on a regular basis. This growing trend has companies struggling to keep their employees productive.

John Muscarella, senior director for national sales channels and indirect channels at Cox Business, says that, “As a business evolves, mobility becomes a bigger and more important aspect of that customer’s environment.”

The time is now for solution providers to cash in on mobility.

The market is estimated to be worth more than $73 billion by 2021, according to Markets and Markets. And, mobility means migration to the cloud and a greater need for employees to access data from remote locations.

Robert Nigh, sales manager for master agents at Cox Business, says, “Mobility encompasses so many different things. It encompasses voice, IM, email. The partner might’ve just been working with them on their connectivity before, and now, they have this entry into the day-to-day operations of their customers’ business.”

Cox Business offers a full suite of solutions to help partners address mobility needs, including its UCaaS solution called IP Centrex.

Nigh says IP Centrex, “offers a lot of things that are different than a traditional UCaaS model. First of all, if it’s in our footprint, it has full quality of service. Also, we do professional installations, even wiring for these types of solutions, which is very uncommon in the UCaaS market.”

Cox also provides virtual or on-premise training by local sales engineers who design the solutions. This helps partners sell options like Cox’s hosted voice solution, which allows remote employees to work on the same platform as those in the corporate office.

Nigh adds, “They don’t have to be an expert on voice. They can lean on us for that expertise, which expands their product offering and it allows them to offer a solution they may not have before with very little investment on their part.”

While partners get to reap the rewards of Cox’s upfront commission structure, their customers benefit from flexible billing, either through a traditional invoice or a smart bill solution in an online portal.
