WATCH: Lenovo Debuts Foldable PC — And Other Headlines From Accelerate

Lenovo’s sold-out Accelerate conference is underway in Orlando, Florida. Here’s what you missed so far:

World’s First Foldable PC

On Monday, Lenovo unveiled the prototype of the world’s first foldable PC following three years of work. The foldable 13.3-inch Windows device has yet to be named, but it will be launched as part of the ThinkPad X1 Family in 2020.

“This is the only device you will need in the future to be productive all day long,” said Christian Teismann, SVP of Commercial Business, PC & Smart Devices at Lenovo.

The ‘Most Trusted Data Center’ Provider

On Monday, executives discussed their vision to make Lenovo the most trust data center partner in the industry with goals to produce its largest ever edge-to-cloud portfolio and become a leader in hyper-scale infrastructure.

“We have a vision and a strategy of intelligent transformation, of being the most trusted data center partner in the industry,” said Kevin Hooper, president of North America for Lenovo’s Data Center Group. “That trust starts with being able to roll up your sleeves and engage with channel partners in real time.”

Channel-First Sales Model

Lenovo is making a big push to unite the two sides of its company: the Intelligent Devices Group and the Data Center Group. In 2018, Lenovo became the number one global provider for PCs, while sales for storage and servers accelerated fast. As Lenovo capitalizes on synergies between its Data Center Group and Intelligent Devices Group, its bullish goal of market-share dominance is being fueled by a strictly enforced channel-first sales model.
