D-Link, NCR Team On Services

The D-Link Network Services Program offers customers a range of contract options, called Service Packs, that mix and match on-site service response, product replacement and phone-based help desk-assistance, said a spokesman at D-Link, Fountain Valley, Calif.

For example, Service Packs can be customized to include four-hour or next-business-day on-site technical response, next-business-day hardware replacement, and either business-hour or round-the-clock phone support, the spokesman said. Contracts can be renewed annually or on a three-year basis.

The pricing of the Service Packs is discounted to beat the cost of buying D-Link products and the associated NCR services separately, according to D-Link. So if a solution provider is pitching a D-Link switch to a customer, for instance, that D-Link partner can wrap the services in with the cost of the switch instead of selling the hardware and services separately, the spokesman said.

D-Link is the No. 2 WLAN vendor in the small- and midsize-business market, just behind Cisco subsidiary Linksys, according to research firm Synergy Research.
