D-Link To Release Wireless Switch For SMBs
Wireless switches enable centralized management of wireless LANs and access points and previously were aimed at larger enterprises. Trapeze is a vendor of such switches, but it said Tuesday that it is licensing its technology to D-Link for that company's AirPremier Wireless Switch.
The market for switches for smaller enterprises could get crowded, however. Cisco Systems recently acquired switch vendor Airespace and said that it, too, will increasingly offer the technology to smaller enterprises.
"With the Trapeze partnership, we can now offer our SMB customers a complete, secure and scalable wireless solution," Keith Karlsen, executive vice president of D-Link, said in a statement.
The product is one outgrowth of an agreement reached by the two companies in March. The companies did not say when the wireless switch would be available.
