Skype Scoops Up Two VoIP Startups

Skype said that it is buying the companies for their VoIP engineering expertise. Developers from the companies will work on future versions of Skype.

Sonorit and Camino are startups specializing in speech processing and coding, as well as IP-based transmissions. Camino's products are targeted toward mobile IP networks, and so one would expect Skype to more aggressively pursue the mobile VoIP market.
