BMC Acquires IT Masters
IT Masters, based in Leuven, Belgium, with U.S. headquarters in Austin, Texas, makes service management software that uses service modeling capabilities to manage IT infrastructure according to the services it supports.
MasterCell, IT Masters' flagship product, will provide the base platform for service impact management, realtime service modeling, root-cause analysis and service-level agreement management within BMC's service management strategy, according to a BMC statement.
BMC has already integrated MasterCell with its Patrol management software for distributed systems and plans to integrate it with its other management products, including Mainview for mainframe systems, InControl for batch scheduling and output management and Remedy for IT service management.
"IT Masters' technology allows modeling of the relationships between elements of the business service so that service can be managed dynamically. This makes the customers' service management infrastructure more adaptable so that their business can change faster," said Mary Nugent, vice president and general manager for service management solutions at Houston-based BMC.
IT Masters' full work force of 75 employees will join BMC as part of the acquisition, including President and CEO Philipe Moitroux, who will head business development for IT Masters' products at BMC, a BMC spokesman said.
