Verizon Serves Up Price Cuts, New Data Card

The new service expands on the B2B initiatives Verizon unveiled last month at the CTIA show in New Orleans. The carrier formed a partnership with Wi-Fi access provider Wayport to offer Wi-Fi access to customers through Verizon high-speed wireless WAN services. Verizon also introduced the commercial deployment of a CDMA 1xEV-DO service in Washington and San Diego, which provides speeds of up to 2.4 Mbps. At the same time, the company unveiled a broader e-mail offering.

"The idea is to let customers have it their way--whether via Microsoft OS, BlackBerry or Palm device," said Bill Stone, vice president of marketing at Verizon, based here. "We're really positioning it so customers receive e-mail the way they want to."

The new software services are slated to be rolled out later this year, according to Verizon.
