Verizon Beefs Up Agent Program

The New York-based company is currently recruiting and training new agents and offering special training to existing Verizon solution providers selling DSL and other Internet services, the company said.

Under a new compensation plan, partners also will be offered consultative sales training to receive better commissions, and will be eligible to receive between .25 percent and 1 percent of the recurring monthly customer fee, said a company spokeswoman.

The program offers three levels of marketing and technical support, based on an agent's needs and commitment to Verizon products and services, the company said.

The levels include Authorized partners, which exclusively sell Verizon's voice products and services; Gold partners, which exclusively sell voice and dedicated data services; and Platinum partners, which exclusively sell Verizon's voice, data and Internet connectivity services, said the spokeswoman.

The application process, including training, takes six to eight weeks to complete in order to become a member of the Verizon Solution Provider Program.
