Startup IP telephony vendor Zultys Technologies Monday introduced a new IP-PBX targeted at the small- and midsize-business markets and enterprise branch offices.

The MX250 media exchange server integrates features such as Internet and PSTN gateways, voice mail, automated attendant, Automatic Call Distributor (ACD) and firewall in a single 2Ubox for five to 250 users.

"We're bringing these benefits down to smaller sites," said Iain Milnes, president of Zultys, Sunnyvale, Calif.

The MX250 supports Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), an emerging call-control standard, so it works with Zultys' own IP phones as well as systems and phones from other vendors that support open standards, he said.

"It has all the features and functionality that an organization of 250 users or less will want, and it has a nice entry [price] point," said Greg Still, managing partner at Xiologix, a solution provider in Portland, Ore.

The MX250 is available now starting at $5,000.
