BMC Nabs HP OpenView Exec To Run Remedy Unit
Jim Grant will head the business unit's day-to-day operations as vice president and general manager of Remedy, BMC reported. Before joining the Houston-based systems management vendor, Grant served as the vice president and general manager of HP's OpenView network management business unit. Grant spent more than 20 years at HP.
Grant fills the role that had been held on an interim basis by Darroll Buytenhuys, BMC's senior vice president of worldwide sales. Buytenhuys now resumes his full-time duties with BMC, the company said.
To replace Grant, HP has named Todd DeLaughter as acting general manager for OpenView. An HP spokesperson said HP has yet to determine whether DeLaughter will fill the role permanently.
Most recently, DeLaughter has driven strategic planning, operational management and marketing operations for HP OpenView. Prior to that , he was general manager of the Compaq Telecommunication Information Management Platform (TeMIP), HP said.
BMC acquired Remedy from Peregrine Systems in November after Peregrine filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Remedy provides help-desk, asset and customer support management tools.
