Qwest Taps Sprint PCS To Offer Wireless Services
Prior to the relationship with Sprint, Denver-based Qwest was providing wireless services over its own network to nearly 1 million customers in its 14-state region, according to a company spokeswoman. These customers will be transitioned by Qwest and Overland Park, Kan.-based Sprint to the PCS network.
Using Sprint's nationwide PCS network, the wireless service is available to customers in Qwest's 14-state local service region and business customers nationwide.
Qwest will handle sales and service support, pricing, and billing and accounting. The carrier will also sell handsets to its wireless customers.
Qwest plans to introduce nationwide wireless calling plans early next year.
