Expand Networks Unveils Traffic Management System

Used in conjunction with the company's Accelerator line of compression appliances for WAN optimization, the new software discovers and classifies application traffic from vendors such as SAP, Oracle, Siebel Systems, Citrix Systems and Microsoft.

Customers can use ExpandView to establish and enforce quality-of-service policies to ensure that the most important applications perform at their peak, said Pedro Colaco, vice president of marketing at Expand, Roseland, N.J.

ExpandView, which runs on the Microsoft Windows operating system, also detects and corrects application performance problems caused by degraded WAN conditions, he said.

"Customers can now, in an easy way, see exactly what is going on in their WAN end to end from remote offices to the data center," Colaco said.

Aimed at customers with 20 or more of the vendor's Accelerator appliances, the software also acts as a centralized management platform for the appliances, making it easier to administer systems in remote offices, he said.

For solution providers, ExpandView provides additional sales opportunities in the vendor's current roster of 700 customers as well as a new solution for easing the deployment of the vendor's technology across large networks, he said.

Pricing for ExpandView, scheduled for general availability in January, starts at $5,000.
