F5 Lays Off More Than 100 Employees As Part Of Product Organization Shifts

According to a WARN notice filed in Washington state, the application delivery and security specialist is cutting 106 jobs as the company makes changes to its product organization to support its ‘highest priorities,’ a spokesperson tells CRN.

Application delivery and security specialist F5 is laying off more than 100 employees at its headquarters in Seattle and Liberty Lake, Wash., as the company carries out changes to its product organization.

106 positions have been cut, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed on Tuesday in Washington state. A spokesperson for F5 confirmed the job cuts, but said the company was not disclosing numbers when reached for comment by CRN.

“Today we announced changes in our product organization to better align resources with important customer needs and our highest business priorities. As part of these changes, selected roles were eliminated, while other employees were placed into new roles supporting strategic growth areas,” a spokesperson for F5 told CRN.

Impacted employees are being provided with assistance to support their transition to new roles internally or their next steps outside F5, according to the spokesperson.

“Organizational and workforce changes are a necessary part of managing and growing our business, and we remain dedicated to hiring and investing in areas that deliver the most impact for our customers,” the spokesperson said.

Roles that have been impacted include software engineers, according to posts on LinkedIn.

F5 has been making moves on the product front over the last year to focus on multi-cloud networking, AI, and API security. The company in February revealed a “return to its roots” with its Application Delivery Controller “ADC 3.0” strategy and its all-in-one application delivery and security platform, which integrates BIG-IP, distributed cloud services, and NGINX technology into one place.

As of September 30, 2024, F5 had 6,557 total employees, according to the company's annual filing.
