RedSky will participate in Westcon's ConvergencePoint program, and according to Westcon, the deal is one of many agreements the distributor says it has in the works for convergence technologies this year.

"The feedback we're getting is they [VARs] understand that E911 is very important to how end users locate and track 911 calls," said Donny Lu, Westcon's product sales manager for ConvergencePoint. "A lot of vendors are offering VoIP solutions in the convergence space. We wanted to provide customers of Westcon an E911 solution that meets the needs of our resellers' end-user customers."

The two offerings include RedSky's enterprise-geared, server-based E911 Manager, which works in Avaya, Cisco and Nortel environments. The other is RedSky's E911 Anywhere, a hosted solution that delivers E911 functionality to small and midsize businesses with a monthly service plan.

"With over 14 states requiring E911 solutions for enterprise voice alone, there is a fantastic opportunity for resellers to capitalize on solutions that deliver critical E911 functionality," said Rob Sbarra, vice president of Cisco Product Sales for Westcon Group North America, in a statement. "RedSky's E911 Manager has an established track record and, as a solution provider, RedSky is in a class by itself when it comes to implementing cross-platform, cross-enterprise E911 solutions for large enterprises."

Lu said to expect more convergence-related partnership announcements from Westcon in the coming months, specifically in storage technologies.

"Storage plays a big role in the overall convergence space," Lu said. "We want to equip our partners with a wider breadth of offerings."
