XChange VARs Get Sneak Peek At New HP Video Technology
HP SkyRoom was developed through the company's workstation group and will be formally introduced later this month, said Adrian Jones, vice president and general manager, Americas Solution Partners Organization at HP.
Jones showed XChange solution providers a short video highlighting the technology, which promises desktop high-definition video with no latency, Jones said. The video promised full interaction, long-distance collaboration and secure global communication backed by an HP video engine.
"This is a real business tool. I was in my boss' office and we were talking to Taiwan, and we could read license plate numbers in the parking lot," Jones said. SkyRoom will be an affordable videoconferencing solution for small businesses to complement HP's Halo telepresence solution, Jones said.
"We developed Halo for videoconferencing a few years ago. You can buy [that model] for $750,000 today. A lot of companies use that to communicate globally. We've taken that and personalized it for SkyRoom," he said.
An HP spokesman said no further information about SkyRoom was available at this time.
