XO Partners With Sprint To Offer Mobile Integration Services

With the new partnership, XO will offer partners Sprint’s 4G wireless and Mobile Integration services to provide end users with a converged solution that extends VoIP or PBX capabilities to their mobile device.

The service provides a number of features for improved flexibility and productivity. End users will be able to enjoy single-number calling for both the desk and mobile phone, call transfers between both phones, an integrated voicemail platform, and many business desk phone features via their wireless handset.

SMB customers can realize further mobile cost savings by placing mobile calls over their WiFi network when in the office, and -- when out of the office -- over Sprint’s 4G network.

“We are excited to enter this relationship with XO Communications and arm them with an attractive mobility solution as part of their services portfolio,” said Matt Carter, Sprint’s president of Wholesale Solutions and New Ventures, in a statement. “Sprint will help XO Communications eliminate the line between wireline and wireless to efficiently deliver on both, allowing their customers to reduce costs and increase productivity and reliability. We are enabling improved business flexibility and worker mobility.”

“This agreement underpins XO Communications’ commitment to deliver innovative services for our customers and is another step in our converged services strategy to bring together wireline and wireless services over a single IP-enabled network infrastructure,” said Don MacNeil, XO’s chief marketing officer. “This capability will further differentiate XO Communications in the market as one of the only providers to offer a very unique fixed mobile convergence offering for our customers that simplifies the management of their wireless and wireline communications needs.”

XO plans to make the service commercially available by mid-2012.
