Former Ruckus Channel Sales Leader Lands At Rival Aerohive

Former Ruckus Wireless America sales leader Ron Gill has landed a new position at rival Aerohive Networks.

The Milpitas, Calif.-based company has hired Gill as its new vice president of Americas sales, responsible for leading Aerohive's channel sales charge in the region.

"Ron brings a deep understanding of the Wi-Fi market, channels and customers to our organization,’ said David Flynn, CEO of Aerohive, in a statement. ’This is another validation of our ability to attract top talent based on the strength of our architecture and market opportunity."

Aerohive, which touts itself as the fastest-growing enterprise Wi-Fi vendor in the market, said Gill's diverse go-to-market experience is based on building high-growth, indirect sales teams and channel structures.

Gill previously served as vice president of Americas enterprise sales at Ruckus, where he led Ruckus' sales effort in North America for eight years. Latin America was added to his responsibility in 2012.

Gill officially left Ruckus in November 2016 at the same time the company announced that its parent company, Brocade Communications, was being acquired by semiconductor maker Broadcom for $5.9 billion.

Broadcom's acquisition of Brocade was shocking to many channel partners since the Brocade-Ruckus integration was just getting under way. The Broadcom announcement also sent shockwaves through the channel as the vendor said it would divest Brocade's IP networking business, which includes Ruckus. Brocade's networking business still has yet to find a buyer.

Aerohive told CRN in December that it was attracting Brocade-Ruckus partners amid the uncertainty.
