Aruba Atmosphere Demo: An IoT-Enabled Hospital

Every solution Aruba Networks creates is Internet of Things (IoT) enabled, according to Aruba leader and founder Keerti Molkote.

Aruba's IoT capabilities were on full display at its Atmosphere 2017 conference in Nashville this week, which included demo labs for attendees focusing on specific vertical use cases.

Jason Fernyc, a consulting systems engineer at Aruba, gave CRN a walkthrough of its hospital demo. That set-up included solutions such as Aruba ClearPass, for secure access and device profiling for various medical devices; Meridian Bluetooth, for location services that automatically check a patient into the hospital; access points for IoT connectivity and network management for the facility from Aruba Central.

"At the end of the day, the idea is to make the patient experience much more positive than it otherwise would be by giving them access to all kinds of information," said Fernyc.

Fernyc also touted innovation that supports the healthcare use case like Aruba's Operating System version 8.

"What we've developed here recently is the Aruba OS8. Aruba OS8 gives us for the first time the ability to balance devices and access points throughout the hospital to deliver 100 percent availability even through software upgrades … with zero downtime," he said.
