CenturyLink Announces New Leadership Team To Follow The Level 3 Acquisition

CenturyLink announced its post-Level 3 leadership team that will head up the new company under CEO Glen Post. The revamped team includes CenturyLink veterans, as well as two Level 3 executives.

CenturyLink's CEO Glen Post revealed the revamped senior leadership team that will report to him following the close of its $24 billion acquisition of service provider Level 3. The leadership team includes CenturyLink veterans, as well as two Level 3 executives.

CenturyLink did not immediately respond to CRN's request for comment about how the leadership changes would affect CenturyLink's channel program.

CenturyLink recently restructured its organization into three groups: consumer, enterprise, and IT and managed services, to prepare for its tie-up with Level 3. CenturyLink, based in Monroe, La., anticipates that once combined with Level 3, it will earn 76 percent of its revenue from business customers.

Broomfield, Colo.-based Level 3's Sunit Patel will serve as executive VP and chief financial officer for the combined company, in charge of domestic and international finance, and accounting functions.

"We have assembled an incredibly talented and experienced executive team that is well positioned to lead the combined company and drive our increased enterprise focus," Post said in a statement. "With the assets we will have as a result of this strategic combination and with this leadership team in place at closing, we believe we will be positioned to deliver strong performance not only in the United States, but also in our expanded markets globally."

CenturyLink expects to close its acquisition of Level 3 by the end of the third quarter.

Several states have already approved the acquisition, including Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Ohio, and Utah. Shareholders of both companies approved the deal in March.
