Former Verizon Channel Chief Schijns Signs On As Office Depot SVP

Verizon channel veteran Janet Schijns, who left the carrier in earlier this month, has joined Office Depot as senior vice president of services, copy, print and tech.

While Schijns won't be assisting the popular Boca Raton, Fla.-based office supply retail company with any channel-related efforts, her new role will focus on execution and growth of Office Depot's copy, print, and tech services. Schijns will also oversee the company’s regional print production facilities to support large scale printing capabilities and delivery needs of business customers, according to Office Depot.

Schijns left Verizon on July 14 having served seven years in the carrier's indirect sales unit and two years as channel chief. At the time of her departure, a spokesperson for Verizon told CRN that Schijns was leaving to "explore an opportunity outside the company."

In her stead, Joe Chuisano, a 23-year Verizon veteran and one of Schijns' "seasoned lieutenants" has since stepped up as Verizon's new North America Verizon Business Markets channel chief.

Office Depot said that Schijns will be able to leverage her Verizon experience in driving customer growth and increasing revenue in her new role.

’Within our portfolio of service offerings, copy, print and tech services are positioned for the largest growth opportunity,’ Troy Rice, president of retail for Office Depot said in a statement. ’[Schijns'] extensive experience and proven record of driving superior business results and leading transformations make her the absolute right fit for this role."

Schijns called her new appointment "an extraordinary opportunity" to put her go-to-market, program, supply chain, technology and channels skills to work to grow Office Depot's copy, print and tech services.

’With businesses burgeoning across the country, Office Depot is at the epicenter of what they need to succeed," she said in a statement.
