Cisco To Acquire Network Management Vendor
Technology from Jahi, San Jose, Calif., will augment Cisco's existing network management applications, providing a consistent external network device interface that will reduce complexity and cut costs, according to a Cisco statement.
Cisco will pay approximately $16 million in cash and assumed options under the terms of the deal, slated to close in the second quarter of Cisco's fiscal-year 2005, which ends in January.
After the acquisition closes, the Jahi team will become a part of Cisco's Network Management Technology Group, which is headed by Cliff Meltzer, senior vice president of Cisco, San Jose.
Cisco has acquired nine companies in 2004, including security vendors Twingo Systems, Riverhead Networks and Perfigo; networking technology vendors Procket Networks, Actona Technologies, Parc Technologies, P-Cube and Dynamicsoft; and managed service provider NetSolve.
