3Com Names New Americas Sales Exec
Williams, 3Com's new vice president of sales for the Americas region, replaces Neal Oristano, who left the Marlborough, Mass.-based company to join Juniper Networks in July.
3Com has yet to fill the role of executive vice president of worldwide sales and marketing vacated by Nick Ganio at end of September. Ganio departed one week after the company reported disappointing financial results for its first fiscal quarter.
3Com President and CEO Bruce Claflin has been handling worldwide sales and marketing responsibilities while the company seeks a replacement.
In the meantime, Williams will report to Claflin until a new worldwide sales executive is named, a 3Com spokesman said.
Williams previously served as senior vice president of sales at Nuvo Network Management, where he oversaw direct and indirect sales for the St. Charles, Ill.-based company. Other prior roles include senior vice president of sales and marketing at Vanguard Managed Solutions, Mansfield, Mass. He held sales management positions at Motorola, including vice president of North America channel sales and vice president of worldwide sales for the company's Multiservices Networking Division.
3Com's sales strategy has been in the spotlight lately, as its naming of Williams comes on the heels of last week's news that changes to the company's channel program contributed to a revenue shortfall during its second fiscal quarter.
