Riverbed Invests In SteelCentral Application Performance Management

Riverbed Technology will upgrade its SteelCentral for Performance Management and Control later this month with a new product called SteelCentral Portal, and the company told CRNtv it intends to leverage its partners to become the "partner of choice" for all end users.
The central Web interface known as SteelCentral "is all about creating very rich end-to-end visibility of application performance," said Senior Vice President Mike Sargent. With SteelCentral, enterprises can "proactively identify issues with application performance before the end users are even affected."
Sargent said Riverbed has invested "quite aggressively over the last several years to bring together what we believe to be an unparalleled set of capabilities" around end-user experience, as well as network and application performance. With the new additions around SteelCentral, Sargent said, IT departments can quickly distill insights from the data collected, and stated that Riverbed has "arguably the richest data set" in the industry.
Riverbed partners will have a tremendous opportunity, Sargent said, noting that Riverbed's "channel partners are out there in the heart of it, day in and day out."
Riverbed's SteelCentral Portal product is expected to launch in mid- to late April.
