BMC Buys OpenNetwork
Houston-based BMC said OpenNetwork's 40 employees would join BMC's identity-management business unit.
OpenNetwork's technology includes web-access management, web single sign-on, and identity-federation services for web-enabled applications. Expanding BMC's products with OpenNetwork technology is expected to improve BMC's "competitive positioning" in the market, the company said.
"Web applications are central to most companies' abilities to deliver goods and services to their customers, employees and partners," Somesh Singh, vice president and general manager for BMC's identity-management unit, said in a statement. "Providing web-access management capabilities with a (Business Service Management) focus is a key differentiator for BMC."
BSM is the company's strategy of providing products that can manage information-technology systems from a business perspective. Over the last year, BMC has been expanding its identity-management product suite to enhance its BSM offerings.
