Group Launches Patch Management Mailing List

"Enterprise patch management is one of the biggest headaches facing IT organizations," said Tina Bird, one of the moderators of the new discussion list, in a statement. "Everyone recognizes the importance of maintaining up-to-date software, but no one's really sure how to do it."

Among the mailing list's moderators are Bird -- a member of the information security team at Stanford -- Jason Chan, a principal security architect for @stake, and Ben Laurie, the director of the Apache Software Foundation.

Security and IT professionals can sign up for the mailing list at the organization's Web site.
