Network Associates Posts Profit
The Santa Clara, Calif.-based security vendor credited the profit in part to McAfee IntruShield product and online subscription sales.
For the quarter, the company posted the $9.9 million profit, or 6 cents per share, on sales of $227 million.
Year ago comparisons were not available since Network Associates plans to restate earnings for last year due to inquiries into its earnings by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Justice Department said the company.
Last Monday, the vendor unveiled a sweeping change to its product strategy centered on intrusion prevention and melding its product lines. (See story.)
Within the next 12 to 18 months the vendor plans to integrate its anti-virus, intrusion prevention, policy-and process-based firewall technology, and security deployment and management software within one product.
The first stage of that integration, which adds firewall capabilities to the company's McAfee Anti-Virus and McAfee Entercept intrusion prevention software, will be available by the first half of next year.
