"A large number of our customers in just about every vertical you can think of told us it was a major problem when remote workers came back and plugged into the corporate network," said Lane Bess, president of Trend Micro's North American operations, Cupertino, Calif. "They had corporate [antivirus] through Trend [Micro], but they needed some kind of appliance that offered layered security to protect remote offices, and it needed to be dummy-proof, they said, so they wouldn't be getting calls from remote users."

The products will be available first through Trend Micro's Premium channel partners, but Trend Micro expects to sign on with a major distributor, Bess said.
