ISS Offers Money-Back Protection Guarantee

Starting Jan. 20, customers of ISS' Managed Protection Services are guaranteed protection from known threats included on the X-Force Certified Attack List, which is compiled by ISS' X-Force security intelligence team.

If a customer becomes infected from a listed threat, that customer won't have to pay ISS for any services rendered for that entire month. Under the premium service, ISS will pay customers that experience attack-related network problems from a threat listed on the X-Force list $50,000, up to the annual contract value of the service.

"In early 2003, we took a look at our managed security business and decided that nothing had changed. But our customers wanted us to do more to protect them. They wanted more proactive protection," said Rick Miller, vice president of managed security services at Atlanta-based ISS. "This is an attempt to provide accountability," he said. "It's a reassurance to our customers."

The standard protection is available now as part of the Managed Protection Services package, and the premium service is expected to be implemented in about 30 days, Miller said.
