This Week In Security: Zone Labs Intros New Solution; Omniva Makes Enhancements

%95 Zone Labs this week rolled out a new Integrity Clientless Security solution to address risks posed by unknown end points accessing the network via the Web and SSL VPNs. Integrity Clientless Security lets IT administrators enforce security on third-party PCs, kiosks and other remote, wired or wireless devices that have access to the network.

"IT departments have no control over third-party PCs and cannot be assured that the machines have been properly protected from infection prior to accessing the corporate network," said Frederick Felman, vice president of marketing at San Francisco-based Zone Labs. "Integrity Clientless Security enforces network access policy for unmanaged and uncontrolled PCs and reduces the risk of introducing infected PCs on the network."

Integrity Clientless Security is available now through Zone Labs and its authorized resellers. Pricing varies based on the volume purchased, the configuration and the application, with pricing starting at $20 per user, according to the company.

%95 Omniva Policy Systems this week introduced several enhancements to its secure messaging policy solution, Omniva Policy Manager. The enhancements are designed to enforce corporatewide security policies and help customers come into compliance with such regulations as Sarbanes-Oxley and Gramm-Leach-Bliley, said Carol Shellhorn, director of marketinga at Omniva, San Francisco.

In policy management, rules can be set for all e-mail messages and attachments to prevent a confidential e-mail--containing financial information, for example--from being forwarded or printed. The e-mail can be tagged as "for your eyes only" and will notify the receiver that the e-mail will expire at a certain date and time. IT administrators also can set up and enforce policies based on the sender, recipient, subject and content.

Policies can be applied on either the client or the server side through a central administration console. The console enables administrators to centrally configure policies and automatically update policies to all server and client machines.

In addition, the Policy Manager integrates with SurfControl's content-filtering solution and KVS' content-archiving solution.

Pricing for the Policy Manager starts at $30,000 for up to 25 users, according to Omniva. The price includes two policy servers, an SMTP gateway and a wireless gateway. Annual support costs $6,000, the company said.
