Nokia, nCircle Team Up

Starting this month, solution providers will be able to sell Nokia IP130 and IP350 security appliances embedded with nCircle's IP360 vulnerability assessment/

intrusion-prevention technology. The Nokia appliances also now include nCircle's VnE Manager maintenance appliance, which is a secure central data repository and management platform for distributed Device Profilers. In addition to housing the device and vulnerability profile data submitted by the Device Profiler, the VnE Manager allows central configuration and role-based administration of all of IP360's appliances and assigned networks, vulnerability analysis, alerting and response capabilities.

Nokia has already begun training its partners to sell the combined product, said Karl Danz, director of product management, enterprise solutions, at Nokia, Mountain View, Calif. More than a dozen partners have already become members of the SDA program with about 20 more in the pipeline, he said.

Rosemont, IIl.-based Paladin Technologies' Thomas Gluzinski, CEO and founder, said the Nokia/nCircle appliance is a welcome addition to his company's repertoire.

"Companies want to add appliances with as many security processes as they can have on one appliance, and this has a lot of their needs in one box," said Gluzinski. "It's not about finding the problem anymore, but preventing the problem and having fixes readily available. This product is employing metrics to make that happen."
