Stonesoft Unveils StoneGate Platform

The appliance, formally dubbed the StoneGate Platform for Security and Continuity, was expected to be available to partners in the vendor's channel program by the end of the month.

According to Markku Wilgren, director of marketing at the Atlanta-based firm, the device is Stonesoft's answer to what has emerged as an industrywide trend toward integrated firewall appliances.

"Our mission is to assure and secure continuous business communication over the Internet," he said. "This enables us to do just that."

Notable to the device are features that include built-in firewall clustering and load-balancing, both based on Stonesoft's StoneBeat technology. The platform also incorporates unique Internet Service Provider multihoming for fault-tolerant Internet connections that secure continuous communications.

What's more, Wilgren said the device's StoneGate IPS functionality offers intrusion detection and analysis capabilities that facilitate automatic event detection to reduce administrative burdens and costs.

Pricing for the StoneGate Platform was not immediately available.
