CSS Buys DHK, Expands Security Services

The acquisition, terms of which were not released, give CSS new assessment services which can feed into its existing information security and internet security services, said Rick DeCamp, vice president of product development and marketing for the Kirkland, Wash.-based firm.

CSS currently offers a wide range of information security and internet security services, including security performance management, identity and access management, and platform security, to customers including Fortune 1000 companies around the nation, said DeCamp. The company has branches in Portland, Ore.; Cleveland, Ohio; and Orlando, Fla.

Portland, Ore.-based DHK has expertise related to the workflow of security for compliance purposes, and does assessments of a customer's compliance requirements, DeCamp said. "Their assessment services will feed into our risk litigation services," he said.

The acquisition came about as a result of CSS's move to expand its business, both geographically and in terms of skills level, DeCamp said. DHK gives CSS a larger customer and personnel base in the Northwest, as well as assessment services.

Going forward, DeCamp said the company expects to make a number of other acquisitions. Geographically, the company is looking to acquire more personnel in the Eastern U.S. And on the skills side, DeCamp said it will be looking for expertise in secure messaging, ID management, and security as a service.

Prior to the acquisition, CSS had about 50 employees. All five employees of DHK are expected to continue with CSS, DeCamp said.

DeCamp declined to discuss revenue for the two companies, but said that CSS had revenue growth of about 69 percent last year, and is on-track to have the same growth this year.
