Oracle Bolsters Identity Management Offerings With Acquisition

single sign-on authentication

The move brings in-house technology Oracle has resold since 2006 under an OEM deal with Passlogix as the Oracle Enterprise Single Sign-On Suite, part of the Oracle Identity Management Suite.

Oracle said the acquisition would allow it to more tightly integrate the Passlogix technology with its own security products and expand its single sign-on and network authentication capabilities. Passlogix software provides single sign-on capabilities for a range of client/server, mainframe and Web-based applications.

"Driven by regulatory mandates, organizations are being pressured to provide stronger authentication mechanisms while reducing the number of passwords required," said Amit Jasuja, vice president of Oracle Identity Management, in a statement. "Passlogix and Oracle have had a successful OEM relationship for more than three years and have many of the same customers. With the addition of Passlogix, we expect to provide a complete enterprise-scale identity management solution and be able to provide more global reach and support resources to customers."

Oracle said it expects to complete the acquisition of New York-based Passlogix by the end of this year. The financial details were not disclosed.
