CounterTack Boosts Managed Detection And Response Skills With GoSecure Acquisition
CounterTack has purchased MSSP GoSecure to scale a cloud-based managed detection and response platform as a service for the company's domestic and international customers.
The Waltham, Mass.-based endpoint security vendor said the acquisition of Montreal-based GoSecure expands upon a previous partnership with the company and will enhance CounterTack's offering for enterprises of all sizes regardless of its deployed on-premise, hosted, or managed in the cloud. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"With GoSecure, we immediately expand our service offerings, add the industry's best security experts and thought leaders that, together with CounterTack's products, offer automated, scalable MDR [Managed Detection and Response]," Neal Creighton, CounterTack's CEO, said in a statement.
GoSecure has already been fully integrated into CounterTack's platform to power their services given the years-long partnership between the two companies, Creighton said. As a result, Creighton said the acquisition is a natural progression of their relationship.
The integration of CounterTack's platform into GoSecure's active mitigation services has helped the latter create differentiated offerings, according to Pascal Fortin, GoSecure's president and chairman of the board. The combination should result in protection for organizations of all sizes across the globe that spans the gamut from rapid identification to active mitigation with aggressive SLAs, Fortin said.
"CounterTack's strong platform and GoSecure's depth of real-world security experience will allow us to bring an unrivaled class of services to address client's most demanding security requirements," Fortin said in a statement.
Combining CounterTack's endpoint detection and response with GoSecure's active migration services, multi-vector threat hunting and industry-leading cybersecurity practitioners will result in customers being protected with unmatched speed and effectiveness, according to GoSecure.
CounterTack's predictive endpoint offering provides multi-tenancy and scalability that can manage hundreds of thousands of endpoints in a single deployment by virtue of the underlying SAP HANA technology, according to GoSecure. The platform includes next-generation antivirus, and can ingest massive volumes of endpoint telemetry powered by an in-memory behavior analysis engine.
The deal will put CounterTack on track for revenue in excess of $70 million next year, according to the company, with annual sales growth of more than 70 percent. The company's platform is used everywhere from SMB to Fortune 50 companies to national security organizations, helping firms stay on top of everything from ransomware and memory-only malware to scripted attacks and insider threats.
CounterTack currently has more than 300 customers globally, according to the company, and powers the MDR offerings of a growing ecosystem of the world's leading MSSPs. The company's clients span the gamut geographically from North America to Europe to Asia-Pacific, the company said.
GoSecure was founded in 2002 and employs more than 80 analysts and engineers across offices in Montreal, Toronto, Quebec City, Halifax and London, England. The company operates two around-the-clock Security Operations Centers (SOCs) to support managed services around SIEM, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, endpoint detection and response, patch management, and incident response.
The company also delivers threat hunting and incident response services out of its Advanced Research Center in Halifax.
This is CounterTack's first deal since July 2015, when the company bought ManTech Cyber Solutions International (MCSI), the commercial software division of solution provider giant ManTech. CounterTack has raised $92.4 million in eight rounds of outside funding, with the company announcing a $20 million Series D round in May 2017 led by new investors Singtel Innov8 and SAP National Security Services.
