Nokia Releases Security Appliances For SMBs

The Nokia IP 265 is a diskless unit, while the IP260 is disk-enabled. Both units are pre-installed with Check Point Software Technologies' VPN-1 virtual private network and Check Point Express access control software, providing security management for up to 500 users and multiple branch offices. Both the IP260 and IP265 feature Nokia's new IPSO 3.8.1 secure operating system, which has been appliance-optimized and security-hardened.

The Nokia IP 260 and IP 265 IP security platforms are designed to deliver high performance and low cost in a compact, one-half rack unit form factor. They are equipped with four 10/100 Ethernet ports and accelerate 3DES and AES256 on a built-in encryption chip. Both units can be clustered or configured as a VRRP High Availability solution for redundant fail-over capability.

"Nokia is continuing to meet the business-critical needs our enterprise customers seek. The Nokia IP260 and IP265 provide the performance needed to effectively handle the requirements of a small enterprise at a low cost," Nokia Enterprise Solutions senior vice president, security and mobile connectivity Elie Habib said in a statement. "These two new offerings complement our portfolio of network security appliances and capitalize on our vision of providing powerful, high quality offerings at one of the most reasonable price points in the market."

Both the IP 260 and IP265 are available immediately at an estimated retail price of $2,495.
