A number of publicly traded cybersecurity vendors have been taken private in deals with private equity investors in recent years, with KnowBe4 being the most recent to do so. The security awareness training vendor completed its sale to Vista Equity Partners Wednesday.

Other recent take-private deals for cybersecurity companies have included ForgeRock, SailPoint and Ping Identity.

Rapid7 currently has a market capitalization of $2.85 billion, and its share price has slid 60 percent during the past year, Reuters noted.

Rapid7 offers a number of different security tools, including extended detection and response (XDR) and security information and event management (SIEM), which are used by security operations teams to pinpoint threats amid the massive amount of security data that is generated by today’s IT systems. The Boston-based company also offers threat intelligence, vulnerability management, application security (via its dynamic application security testing tool), cloud security and other cybersecurity products.

Recent product updates from Rapid7 have included the introduction of improved cloud detection and response, used to natively identify the most serious cloud threats with greater accuracy. The company also recently rolled out enhanced vulnerability assessment, which offers continuous visibility into vulnerabilities and is easier to deploy thanks to its being an agentless technology.
