Distributor Says 'Security Is On Steroids'

After seven months at the helm of value-added distributor Westcon Group, CEO Dolph Westerbos said it’s clear where the biggest business opportunities lie.

’Security, I think, is on steroids,’ Westerbos told CRN. ’The whole space is more complex, as end devices are being tied into enterprise environments, and the emergence of both public and private cloud -- that drives a lot of security complexity.’

In his short time at the CEO position, Westerbos also has focused on the big picture of Westcon.

’How do we simplify the organization, how do we make it less complex? We’ve also laid the groundwork for compelling services and cloud capability moving forward,’ he said.

So what’s next? Westerbos said Westcon will look to grow services and cloud distribution, and to transition from being a software distributor to a services distributor.

’This is all around how do we help bring to market the many services out there, and make them compelling solutions for resellers,’ he said.
