Rapid7 Launches IoT-Driven Consulting, Assessment Services Offering
Boston-based security and compliance company Rapid7 hopes to ride the Internet of Things wave with a newly expanded consulting and assessment service offering for IoT.
Rapid7 unveiled the offering at its United Security Summit in Boston, where CEO Corey Thomas spoke with enthusiasm to CRNtv.
’We’ve gotten increasing requests from customers for help and advice and strategies about how to better build, manage and secure IoT devices, software and applications,’ Thomas said. ’And that’s really the core of the offering we introduced.’
Thomas said IoT has its own unique set of challenges as "unmanaged software."
’It requires a whole new strategy,’ he said.
That strategy will require Rapid7 to grow its channel partner base. Right now, about 40 percent of sales go through the channel, and Thomas said this is one path through which the company can grow that number.
’There’s going to be a massive amount of support and maintenance that’s going to be required,’ he said.
’The channel has wonderful expertise and experience around managing things,’ he added.
