Sophos Cyber Threat Report: Two Crucial Steps For Thwarting Cybercriminals

Learn how Sophos is educating its partners on what’s happening in the threat landscape.

Cyber threats evolve quickly. It’s no surprise solution providers struggle to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to offering the right technology to keep customers safe. In fact, 87 percent of IT managers agree threats have become more complex over the past year, according to the recently published Sophos survey, The State of Endpoint Security Today.

Sophos Senior Security Expert John Shier says attacks come and go, and may even come back again, depending on whether cybercriminals are making money. “It’s important to know that while a lot of these kits do come and go, it’s important to always stay vigilant and stay protected.”

For solution providers, staying vigilant means arming themselves with the proper training and certification required to protect their customers. “You want to educate your workforce and make sure everybody is marching to the beat of the same drum,” says Shier. “When everybody is doing security right, then your business is going to benefit from that.”

However, sifting through everything that’s out there makes it hard for solution providers to know what they really need. Sophos solves this pain point by doing the leg work itself. Data scientists and researchers in SophosLabs constantly collect and disseminate valuable intel on the threat landscape to partners. This ensures they have real-time data to serve as a trusted security advisor to their clients.

“We get the partners educated about what’s happening in the threat landscape, and that makes them much more successful in being able to apply the right product to solve those problems,” says Dan Schiappa, senior vice president and general manager of products at Sophos.

“We’ve done a number of cooperative events with Sophos,” says Brian Hanify, vice president of sales and marketing at AKUITY Technologies. “We’ve had 100-150 people in to listen to the Sophos experts speak to the anatomy of an attack and what the state of the security marketplace is.”
