Maxtor Expands Small Business VAR Benefits

The program, which has at its center the company's new OneTouch II Small Business Edition external hard drive series, is aimed at solution providers serving small businesses with about 20 or so employees, said Stacey Lund, vice president of product marketing for Maxtor's branded products group.

Under the Maxtor VIP Partner Program, solution providers now have access to demo units at a substantial discount off list price, Lund said.

The company will also offer sales rewards of between $1 and $3 per unit sold, with the rewards credited to a debit card for solution providers on a monthly basis, she said.

Also new is on-line training on Maxtor's products and technology, a variety of marketing collateral to help solution providers build their own marketing campaigns, and Maxtor-branded "tchotchkes" for sale, she said.

Also new from Maxtor this week is the availability of its new Maxtor OneTouch II FireWire 800 Edition external hard drive. The drive has a capacity of 300 Gbytes and a 16-Mbyte buffer, and transfers files via its FireWire 800, FireWire 400, and USB 2.0 interfaces.
