Start-Up Riverbed Nabs Cisco Exec

Riverbed Thursday named Zubchevich vice president of business development, a role in which he will take on responsibility for developing the company's go-to-market strategy and OEM partnerships.

The San Francisco-based company's Steelhead appliances aim to improve WAN performance to branch offices. Last month the company licensed technology to Hewlett-Packard, which plans to use it as the basis for its HP StorageWorks Enterprise File Service WAN Accelerator.

Zubchevich previously served as director of storage and optical solutions for worldwide channels at Cisco, San Jose, Calif. He joined Cisco approximately two years ago, having previously served as regional vice president at McData and as a sales manager at StorageTek.

Cisco has named Susheel Chitre, who joined the company via its acquisition of Andiamo in 2001, as acting director while it seeks a replacement, a Cisco spokesperson said.
