Veritas Links With EMC Storage Arrays

Veritas Storage Extension, which utilizes EMC's open API to integrate the Indepth APM to EMC hardware, lets storage administrators fine-tune the performance of popular enterprise databases -- such as Microsoft's SQL Server, IBM's DB2, and Oracle -- by detecting, diagnosing, and correcting performance problems as transactions occur in real-time.

The add-on allows Indepth to display metrics for Oracle and SQL Server databases running EMC's Symmetrix and CLARiiON storage arrays, and for DB2 operating on the Symmetrix series.

"Storage Extension provides another core building block to help companies manage the performance, capacity, and reliability of their IT operations to meet the changing demands of the organization, the fundamental promise of utility computing," said Robert Maness, Veritas' senior director of product marketing in a statement.
