Infinidat: Operational Efficiency Is Key To Scaling Storage Infrastructure

‘When we started this 10 years ago, the journey was a couple hundred terabytes to a petabyte. Now we’re seeing customers do hundreds of petabytes on the floor and that will soon be exabytes, so that growth is off the charts and our partners are delivering that,’ Infinidat’s Brett Cooper tells CRNtv.

CRNtv sat down with Infinidat’s Brett Cooper and Sycomp’s Allen Shahdadi to talk tech trends in the storage channel space, as well as the COVID-19 impact on Infinidat’s partnerships and program strategies.

“When we started this 10 years ago, the journey was a couple hundred terabytes to a petabyte. Now we’re seeing customers do hundreds of petabytes on the floor and that will soon be exabytes, so that growth is off the charts and our partners are delivering that,” said Cooper.

And in the current COVID environment, Cooper told CRNtv, they see customers trying to achieve operational efficiency.

“That really means taking out all of the challenges that they’ve had around consolidation, around making things work better,” he said. “It’s not just about reducing costs, it’s around getting things more efficient; optimizing and automating as much as they can, making sure their people are doing as much as they can whether remote, or starting to return to work.”

Cooper told CRNtv that digital transformation is driving exponential growth in enterprise data storage, “requiring a fundamentally new approach to building and scaling storage infrastructure.”

“Partners really want to stay safe and they want to keep their customers safe. To do that we have a platform with Infinidat that’s called, ‘Elastic,’ it’s really a consumption model and that consumption model allows us to deliver a platform, day one that scales in place for up to eight years that platform doesn’t need to be touched and that’s a big deal,” said Cooper.

Why is this so important for the IT department, Shahdadi asked, “because the business is using this data to make better decisions and they need to make sure that there’s a strategy around how data is laid out and how they’re using the data across the organization.”

Customers today are looking for storage solutions that are reliable, scalable and can consolidate multiple systems and workloads to improve performance, said Shahdadi.

“And when you look at that from a platform perspective, the return on investment (ROI) is significant,” he added.

Infinidat is investing more in today’s hybrid environment to deliver partners’ storage service both on-premises and in the cloud, tackling digital transformation initiatives faster and with less risk, Cooper said.

That includes data protection, data management, business continuity “and being able to deliver that both on-premises and in the cloud.”

“So this is something our partners have asked for,” said Cooper. “We delivered a solution called, ‘InfiniGuard’ that delivers both on-prem and in the cloud data protection, so you can hybridize that environment and really do some great things.”

With InfiniGuard, they can also deliver off-premises backup, he added. “So the product delivers the ability to secure your data wherever it is, and that’s what’s really important. Customers want make sure their data is immutable.”
