The Top 100 IT Executives Of 2019

Here we present the CRN Top 100 Executives of 2019 list, the men and women who are setting the pace for the rest of the IT industry.

The combination of passion, tenacity and foresight to stay ahead of fast-changing markets is a winning formula for those in executive leadership. And these are among the key traits that can be found in this year’s class of the Top 100 Executives, the men and women who are blazing trails across the IT industry.

Emblematic of these traits is Michael Dell, founder and CEO of Dell Technologies, the No. 1 executive on our Most Influential list. From the founding of the company in his dorm room in 1984, Dell has steered it through one technology transition after another with vision and execution—turning Dell Technologies into the global leader in storage, servers and hyper-converged infrastructure in the process.

Michael Dell is known for making bold moves such as the $67 billion purchase of EMC and bringing together seven unique businesses including Dell Technologies, EMC and VMware. Now, he’s continuing to place big bets on where tech is headed next, including on unprecedented opportunities he sees in 5G and artificial intelligence.

“AI, machine learning, deep learning are so pervasive now,” Dell told CRN. “They’re really enabling foundational technologies that are running through everything we’re doing—from products to services to sales—and I think that’s going to be true for every company that succeeds in the future.”

Michael Dell brings a passion to his work that is infectious, said Sonia St. Charles, co-founder and CEO of St. Paul, Minn.based Davenport Group.

“When you talk to him or see him in person, he’s excited,” St. Charles said. “He’s excited about where the company is headed, what he wants to accomplish, and he sees the vision of where they’re going. It’s pretty inspiring.”

Dell and the other individuals chosen for our Top 100 Executives list prove that successful business leaders are those who don’t resist change, but rather embrace it as an opportunity for reinvention.
