Dell Launches Inspiron Mini 9
The mini machine uses Intel's 1.6 Gigahertz Atom processor and sports a solid state drive.
The Inspiron Mini 9 can price as low as $349 direct from Dell if you're interested in a machine running Ubuntu 8.04. The Linux version ships with a 4 GB solid state drive and 512 MB of RAM.
The Windows XP Home Edition versions of the Inspiron Mini 9 start at $349 but Dell is offering an instant $40 rebate on its Website. The 8 GB system has 512 MB of RAM, and the more expensive 16 GB version, starting at $504, has 1 GB of RAM.
Common to all are an 8.9-inch glossy screen, a wireless 802.11g mini Card and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950 video capabilities. For an additional $25, users can choose a system in Alpine White instead of the standard Obsidian Black. Bluetooth can also be added for $20.
