CDW-G Opens Orders For $5 Bill ADMC-2 Contract
Following some contention in the industry, CDW Government (CDW-G) opened orders on the Army Desktop and Mobile Computing-2 (ADMC-2) contract, worth an estimated $5 billion over a possible 10 years.
The ADMC-2 contracts acts as a primary source for commercial desktop and laptop PCs, ruggedized and semiruggedized devices, printers and peripherals, and is open to both defense and civilian agencies. In April, CDW-G, Dell and Hewlett-Packard won the large-business awards, and Integration Technologies Group, MPC-G, NCS Technologies, Telos, Transource Computers and Westwood Computer won the small-business portions of the contracts. Gateway filed a protest with the Government Accountability Office a month after the awards were announced for its exclusion, temporarily stalling contract work. The manufacturer withdrew the protest in August.
CDW-G, which is the only large business named to all three areas of the contract, including Desktop and Portable Systems, Ruggedized Devices, and Document Processors/Printers and Peripherals/Accessories, will support the federal government's requirements for commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technology and provide services, including asset tagging, system configuration and integration, custom imaging, installation and asset disposal.
