It's Official: BlackBerry Curve 8900 Coming To T-Mobile
While the site introducing the Curve 8900 offers no insight into pricing and release date, it proves once and for all that T-Mobile will be the first to get the first major BlackBerry release from Research In Motion (RIM) Ltd. in 2009. Late last year, it was rumored that AT&T may have first crack at the Curve 8900.
And while T-Mobile is keeping its lips sealed on when the Curve 8900 will hit stores, the smartphone is expected to hit T-Mobile stores on Feb. 11, a week earlier than the originally anticipated Feb. 18 release date.
According to T-Mobile, the BlackBerry Curve 8900 offers "the perfect balance between performance and usability." The device offers the lightest and thinnest full-QWERTY keyboard BlackBerry in BlackBerry's history at just more than a half-inch thick.
Additionally, the BlackBerry Curve 8900 offers all of the features and functions BlackBerry users have grown accustomed to, including phone, e-mail, text messaging, browser, instant messaging, document viewing and editing, and organizer applications. It also ties in a host of multimedia functions, such as a media player.
The quad-band curve, while lacking 3G connectivity, offers EDGE support with built-in Wi-Fi and GPS, a 512MHz next-generation processor, a 2.4-inch 480-x-360 high-resolution display, a 3.2- megapixel camera and BlackBerry OS version 4.6.
"The Curve is designed to simplify your life, and keep you connected," T-Mobile said.
The BlackBerry Curve 8900 has already launched in Canada and the U.K. In the U.S., the FCC approved the smartphone in November.
