Ily Backup Solution Hits The Mark

ILY Enterprise's portable CD/DVD duplicator, dubbed SlimDVDup, can be used as a stand-alone recorder or as an external duplicator attached to a PC via a USB 2.0 connector.

The unobtrusive duplicator is housed in a sturdy aluminum case that measures 6 inches x 7 inches x 1.5 inches and weighs less than 4 pounds. The device includes two slim drives: one serves as the reader or player and the other as a recorder or writer. The device can burn data to both DVD and CD media. The drive supports most major formats, including both DVD+/-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD+/-R, CD-ROM, CD-I and Video CD.

CRN Test Center engineers set up the drive and filled a CD with data in only seven minutes. The drive is user-friendly, and a built-in LCD display makes navigating the numerous controls simple.

Engineers also connected the duplicator to a host PC running Windows XP. The drive was quickly detected by the operating system and seamlessly added to the list of available drives on the PC. The SlimDVDup drive is also compatible with Mac OS X.

The drive also offers the functionality to edit precise tracks for custom audio CD creation. Besides its writing and recording capabilities, the drive is equipped withan audio input jack and volume control for stand-alone playback of stored files.

The drive is ideal for backing up large quantities of data, as well as making information portable for individuals constantly on the move. It is also a perfect solution for companies that cannot afford a more expensive backup solution.
